A body found in Echo Park Lake over the weekend was identified by the coroner's office as that of 27-year-old Ramon Piche Beltran of Los Angeles.
Beltran's body was found face down in the lake just before noon Saturday, said Capt. John Landis of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. Firefighters pronounced Beltran dead at the scene.
The cause of his death is under investigation, Landis said.
A message posted on what appears to be Beltran's Facebook page said he had been missing since last Wednesday. Other messages by people identifying themselves as friends followed, sharing the news of the loss.
