Man Hospitalized After Firefight with Deputy in Victorville

A deputy gunned a man down during a firefight in Victorville Tuesday. 

The incident began after the lawman pulled a car over in a traffic stop on Navarro Drive  at around 10:30 p.m, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

A man in his 20s in the front passenger seat allegedly had a gun and exited the vehicle when the deputy approached car. The  shoot-out then ensued.

The suspect then ran away to a nearby desert area.

The deputy then requested additional help from a sheriff’s department helicopter, which  was able to use an infrared device to direct him to the suspect.

During that time the suspect allegedly opened fire on the lawman, who returned fire deputy, deputy returned fire and hit the suspect.

The man was taken to hospital in a stable condition, Another man and a woman were in the car, but are not suspects.
