Neighbor charged with murder after ciolent confrontation between two pair of fathers, sons

A man remained hospitalized Monday following a stabbing in Eagle Rock Saturday night that killed his father.

A fight involving two fathers and their sons occurred at about 8 p.m. near Figueroa Street and La Loma Street, south of Colorado Boulevard. The confrontation began with an argument between the two men and their neighbors, a pair of men who were also father and son, police said.

One of two men, identified as local transients, allegedly hit the other two men with a canister. The other two men, both identified as Kenneth Brice, followed the men to the 7300 block of Figueroa Street and a fight ensued, with one of the men fatally stabbed and his son seriously injured.

Both men were taken to a hospital. The father died while at the hospital and the son remains in intensive care suffering from bleeding from the brain.

Neigbors who said they knew the Brice's said they were surprised by the incident and their neighbor's alleged actions.

A neighbor who said she knew the Brice's said the father and son must have been provoked.

"Coming at Kenny and his son, it takes a lot for someone to take a knife and stab someone," said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.

Both Brice's remained in jail each on $1 million bond and charged with murder.
