Man Impaled on Fence After Jumping From Parking Structure

The incident happened at 3:40 a.m. in the 1100 block of Mission Road, police said

A man was critically injured when he was impaled on a spiked wrought-iron fence after he jumped from the fourth-story of a parking structure in Lincoln Heights, police said on Saturday.

The man, who was not immediately identified, jumped at 3:40 a.m. after being shooed away from the structure in the 1100 block of Mission Road, police said.

Police said the man had returned to the area after police had shooed him out about an hour earlier.

The man was listed in critical condition at a hospital, said Los Angeles police Lt. Richard Thomas of the Hollenbeck Station.

Firefighters cut away the section of fence the man was impaled on.

The fencing was atop a roughly 6-foot wall.
