‘The Front of My House Was Gone': Driver Crashes Into Granada Hills Home

The front bedrooms of a Granada Hills home were destroyed early Tuesday when a driver speeding on a Southern California freeway crashed into the house after exiting the freeway and jumping a curb.

Police were searching for a passenger who fled.

Antonio Arizo, the homeowner, said the driver crashed into the two front bedrooms of his home.

"I heard this bang, boom in the house. I tried to open some of the bedroom doors, realized that they were blocked. Came around front, saw a CHP cruiser out front with the lights on, and looked over and realized the front of my house was gone," Arizo said.

Arizo said he was grateful that no one was seriously injured in the crash.

Police said a California Highway Patrol officer earlier monitored a driver speeding in a Dodge Durango at more than 90 mph on the 118 Freeway. The CHP officer followed the driver and noticed him moving too fast but did not see the driver lose control and crash into the home.

The collision was reported around 1:30 a.m. in the 11300 block of Balboa Boulevard. Police and firefighters arrived to find a vehicle crashed into and damaged a home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Los Angeles Fire Department helped free the driver from the vehicle, according to the LAPD. The injured driver was transported to a hospital and was being treated for minor injuries.
