Someone shot at a Lexus, killing a man and wounding three other people after midnight on Sept. 25, 2012 in Northridge. Antonio Castelan reports from the scene for "Today in LA" on Sept. 25, 2012.
A man was killed and three other people were wounded when someone fired shots at their Lexus near an intersection in Northridge early Tuesday and police were searching for the gunman, police said.
Two men and two women in their 20s were in a car after midnight near Balboa Boulevard and Parthenia Street when someone approached on foot and fired shots, police said.
At least one round flew through an apartment nearby, said police and a witness.
“I was scared. I was shocked,” said Vilai Wealthy, who was upstairs, watching TV and on the phone when bullets shattered the window downstairs. No one was inside at the time. “I heard -- bang, bang, bang, bang, bang -- five shots. I looked through the window and saw somebody crying. A woman was crying.”
Neither the identities of the victims nor a description of the gunman was immediately available as police continued to sift the scene for evidence early Tuesday.
It was unknown what condition the three surviving victims were in.
