Man Falls After Climbing Over Tower of Terror Railing

The man fell about 25 feet after leaning over a railing as he waited in line for the ride

Authorities said a man suffered minor injuries after falling 25 feet on the Tower of Terror ride at Disney's California Adventure.

Officials said alcohol might have been involved. The man, 20, was seen leaning over the railing as he waited in line for the ride, police said.

The fall was reported at about 10:30 p.m. The man was transported to UCI Medical Center and released.

Sgt. Rick Martinez told the LA Times the man placed a leg over the railing and joked about the "possibility of someone falling over." Martinez said he lost his balance and fell.

Disneyland Resort released a statement Thursday: "Last night a 20-year-old male guest fell in the queue line at the Tower of Terror attraction at Disney California Adventure. The guest was standing in line with friends on a second-floor platform when he climbed over a barrier to the area below and lost his balance and fell approximately 25 feet. The guest was transported by ambulance to the hospital. We understand his injuries were minor and he has been treated and released."

The Tower of Terror, which rises more than 180 feet, is described as a haunted elevator ride through an elegant hotel.
