Man Sexually Batters 4 Girls Walking to School in Riverside

Police were warning children and parents to be on the lookout for a man who sexually battered four female students walking to school in Riverside on Wednesday morning.

The victims, ranging in age from 12 to 18, told officers that a man in all black clothing had chased and touched them in a sexual manner, then fled, according to the Riverside Police Department.

The incidents happened between 7 and 8:15 a.m. along Gramercy Place and Jones Avenue, Crest Avenue and Wohlstetter Street, as well as near Hole and Jones avenues.

The man was described as between 30 and 40 years old, wearing a black baseball cap or beanie, running jacket and running pants. He was believed to be driving an early 2000s model, white Chevrolet truck.

"The police department is asking that parents and students be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious persons or activity in the area," police said.

Parents on Thursday morning said they're taking extra precautions.

"I'm not letting them walk up to school by themselves, that's for sure," Tim Ramos said. "I make sure I get them up to at least the gate over here to see that they're actually in school."

Anyone with information was asked to call Det. Karle Beler at 951-353-7125.
