Man Found Dead Inside Compton Home

"It looks like he died at the hands of another," sheriff's officials said.

A man in his 70s was shot to death Saturday in Compton, an apparent homicide that comes within three days after two men were killed in that city by law enforcement officers.

Delmus Wilkerson, 71, was identified Sunday by the Los Angeles County Coroner as the victim.

The latest incident occurred a little after 8 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of West 134th Street, where a man was shot and later pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Ryan Rouzan of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Every room inside the West 134th Street home is rented out and there are also sheds along the house. The man was found inside the shed.

"It appears he didn't die of natural causes. It looks like he died at the hands of another," Lt. John Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. "We're in the process of trying to determine what happened."

The West 134th Street shooting comes on the heels of two other fatal shootings in Compton: a deputy-involved shooting in a wash near the intersection of Arbutus Street and Kemp Avenue at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, and a shooting later that night involving an FBI agent serving a warrant FBI agent at a home in Compton.

Sheriff's homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding today's shooting on West 134th Street to call them at 323-890-5500.
