Security Guard Shot and Killed in Lancaster

A security guard was shot and killed while sitting inside his vehicle outside in a parking lot Monday evening in Lancaster.

The shooting occurred about 7:20 p.m. in the 1700 block of East Avenue J, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

The guard was found armed and with a gunshot wound to his head sitting inside his vehicle with another security guard, detectives said. The other security guard, who was not armed, was detained.

He was a security guard who worked for Lancaster-based Opsec Specialized Protection, an employee of the company said.

What led up to the shooting was uncertain, said John Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
