Man Sought in Sex Assault of 6-Year-Old Riverside Girl

A man gained the trust of a 6-year-old girl by telling her through a window he had a present for her mother, then sexually assaulted her in the early morning hours when she let him inside her Riverside home, her mother said.

The girl told her mother a man knocked on her window about 5:40 a.m. Sunday and told her he had a gift, convincing her to let him in through the front door at the home in the 5000 block of Picker Street.

The mother, Cynthia Ramirez, said the man "came in and ordered her to undress and to put something else on, he then started touching himself and started touching her and she tried to run out and she was very scared, and I believe he was drunk. She did mention that he had a very bad odor."

By the time the little girl escaped her room to wake up her parents, the man had fled, the mother said.

The girl told responding officers the man drove off in a pickup truck. She was able to provide a description for a composite sketch.

The man was described as possibly Hispanic and in his mid-to-late 50s. He was about 5-foot-7-inches tall with a thin build and black hair. He spoke with an accent and had a "droopy" left eye, the girl said.

Ramirez said her daughter is coping with the trauma by constantly washing her hands.

"She needed to take a shower, she just felt dirty," the mother said. "What he did to my daughter was hurtful, not just to her but to all of the family. That he really hurt us."
