Man Stabbed to Death Behind Anaheim Restaurant

A man was stabbed to death behind an Anaheim restaurant early Thursday morning, and his attacker has not been found, police said.

After officers received a call around 1:56 a.m., they arrived at Spires restaurant in the 900 block of South Euclid Street two minutes later where a man had been stabbed, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department. Officers performed CPR but the victim died near the dumpsters behind the restaurant.

The victim had been sleeping outside the restaurant, which was closed when the incident happened.

One person who saw the attack ran across the street to a 7-Eleven and had employees call 911, Wyatt said. The attacker ran away from the scene headed north.

What prompted the stabbing was not immediately clear.

People who live and work in the area were shaken by the news of what happened.

"It's kinda scary," said Angie Ybarra, a woman who works nearby. "I guess I have to take more precaution I guess, mace or something."

Police said they were talking with two witnesses Thursday.

No description of the suspect was available Thursday morning, but police were checking the area for surveillance video.

Anyone with information about the stabbing was asked to call the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1900.
