Teen Son Sought in Father's Stabbing Death in Pico Rivera Home

A 50-year-old man was fatally stabbed at his home in Pico Rivera early Saturday, authorities said.

Authorities responded around 1:30 a.m. to a robbery call at a home inside a gated community in the 3700 block of Oaklawn Lane, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives found the man suffering from stab wounds to his body. He was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

Family members were inside the home at the time of the stabbing, and detectives had detained them for questioning.

Holly Francisco of the LASD said there was no sign of forced entry and investigators were trying to find the man's 17-year-old son, who took off in the family car at the time of the stabbing. Francisco said the son was a person of interest in the case.

The car was described as a silver 2000 Infiniti with license plate number 4MAB667.

A woman who rents a room from the family told NBC4 she heard the homeowner screaming.

“I heard a man yelling in Spanish, ‘Me quiere matar,’ means ‘He wants to kill me,’” Mila Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said she hadn’t heard of any problems between the man and the son since she has lived there in the last three months.

A gate around the neighborhood was not working at the time of the stabbing. Repair crews were out Saturday morning fixing the fence.

Initial reports indicated that the stabbing occurred during a home-invasion robbery.
