Man Survives Being Dragged 250 Feet Across Pavement By Truck

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with law enforcement officials.

A man dragged 250 feet across the pavement by a truck in Orange County Friday is now fighting for his life.

The 18-year-old was traveling eastbound on his bicycle near the 2200 block of West 1st street in Santa Ana when a truck travelling in the same direction on the same street attempted to make a right turn onto Center Street, Captain Steve Concialdi said, from the Orange County Fire Authority.

The bicyclist, for unknown reasons, entered the intersection at the same time and crashed, running into the two-wheel of the back of the truck, he added.

It was unclear how fast the truck was going at the time of the collision.

Firefighters and paramedics said they had never seen anyone who suffered such severe injuries still be able to talk, Captain Steve Concialdi said.

The 18-year old was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with law enforcement officials.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be a factor in the crash, Concialdi said.
