Body of Man Found Burned in Trash Bin After Pursuit Identified

Investigators returned to the San Bernardino field where the pursuit began and found the burned body

The sister of a man whose body was found in a burning trash bin after a police chase spoke out on Friday.

She identified the man as Morris Barnes, 50, a father of three children. She said her brother knew the suspect for years and has no idea why he or anyone else would kill her brother in such a horrendous way.

Investigators said it appeared Barnes had suffered some sort of trauma before his body was burned.

"I really want to find out why did he do that. They knew each other but I didn't think they had beef or anything," she said.

It all began at 1 a.m. Friday after a bizarre pursuit in San Bernardino. It went on for 70 miles on the 10 Freeway to Paramount.

That's where deputies took the driver, Enrique Jimenez, into custody.

It started in San Bernardino when Jimenez took off in his SUV with his sons as deputies approached him at a burning trash bin.
