Man Tried to Rip Off Sunbathing Woman's Bikini Top at Ventura Beach While Recording

The Ventura Police Department is searching for a man who attacked and attempted to sexually assault a woman on a beach.

The attack occurred on Monday, June 10, shortly before 2 p.m., at the area at the end of Driftwood Lane at San Buenaventura State Beach.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was lying on the beach with her face covered in a T-shirt when the suspect approached her and kneeled over her. The man began to record her and the woman got up, but the suspect grabbed her by the top of her swimsuit and tried to take it off, according to the Ventura police.

The woman screamed to alert the park guards, but the man fled in the direction of Driftwood Lane. The victim was not injured in the incident.

The man is described as being 5-feet 7-inches tall, medium build, dark skin, short black hair and possible facial hair. He was said to be 30-40 years old. He wore black surfing shorts.

Authorities are still investigating so they ask anyone with information regarding the incident or who has any surveillance videos from cameras in the area to contact the Ventura Police Department at 805-339-4488.
