Man Who Sexually Assaulted Woman on Metro Red Line Sought

Authorities Friday sought public help to identify a man who sexually assaulted a woman on a Metro Red Line train in the North Hollywood area.

It happened about 10:30 a.m Tuesday between the North Hollywood and the Universal stations, according to the sheriff's Transit Policing Division.

The victim had boarded the train and was standing at the end of the car with her bicycle, and the suspect was sitting behind her, when the incident occurred, the bulletin said.

As the train started to move, the victim was sexually assaulted," the bulletin said. "The suspect exited at Universal, but re-entered the train as the doors closed. He rode until Hollywood/Vine, where both the suspect and the victim exited."

The man then followed the woman to the street level and then walked off.

Authorities circulated security images of the suspect, described as white or Hispanic, 25-35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, and weighing 130 to 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about the suspect was urged to call the sheriff's hotline at (888) 950-SAFE.
