Man in Wheelchair Shot in Face When Gunman Opens Fire at Car Event

The victim was shot during a gathering of automotive enthusiasts on Euclid Street at La Palma Avenue

A man in a wheelchair was shot in the face when a gunman opened fire Wednesday night at a car club gathering in Anaheim, police said.

The Anaheim Police Department received a call of shots fired about 10 p.m. at a Dearden’s furniture store parking lot on Euclid Street and La Palma Avenue, officials said. The shooting occurred at what authorities described as an impromptu meeting of automotive enthusiasts.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was shot in his neck or face, police said. He was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where he was in serious condition Thursday morning

It was unclear why the man was shot. Police were searching for the gunman.

"We're getting conflicting reports about a suspect description," said Lt. Bob Dunn.
