Man in White Van Tries to Abduct 11-Year-Old Girl

Deputies are looking for a man in a white van who tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl in North Tustin.

The girl was walking her dog when the man ordered her to get into the van, but instead she ran off.

The crime worried parents, some who said the neighborhood was safe.

"Everybody knows everybody," said Carla Pinnix.

Brenda Carrillo, another parent, echoed the statement.

"It's alarming, especially in the broad daylight," she said.

It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The man was driving an older model white minivan — with a business name of "quick clean" and water drop logos on the side.

There are a few elementary and middle schools nearby. Parents say they got wind of the danger quickly.

Carrillo said school officials sent home fliers with students kids to "make sure you talk about it with your kids."

Neighbor Mike Waldman said he thought he had seen the same van three days earlier.

Waldman lives near the intersection where the attempted kidnapping happened and admits a service van in the neighborhood is not uncommon.

"My wife always said don't let the girls out," Waldman said. "They can't go walk the dog. I'm like, Marissa, don't be so dramatic, come on. Now, it's not so dramatic anymore."
