A diminutive man who robbed a Laguna Hills bank and may have knocked over the same bank about a year ago was at large today, and authorities hope someone will recognize his distinctive pickup truck, a sheriff's official said today.
The armed man walked into a Bank of America branch at 23711 Moulton Parkway about 1:45 p.m. Monday, ordered everyone up against a wall and made a manager and teller give him money from the vault, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
He may be the same man who robbed the same bank almost exactly a year ago, Amormino said. He was described as Hispanic, under 5 feet 5 inches and 100 pounds.
Although the man wore a mask and apparent wig, security cameras captured “vivid” photos of him pointing the gun, Amormino said.
He fled in a distinctive metallic blue Dodge Ram pickup truck with custom rims, which was also caught on camera.
Authorities believe he may live in the area. Bank of America has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Anyone with information on the man was asked to call the FBI at (714) 542-8825 or (714) 647-7000. CNS-07-24-2009 09:45
