Lockdowns Lifted for 2 Manhattan Beach Schools

Two South Bay schools were temporarily placed on precautionary lockdown Tuesday afternoon, according to the Manhattan Beach Unified School District.

Meadows Elementary School and Manhattan Beach Preschool were placed on lockdown due to nearby police activity, as officers investigated a robbery, the district's executive director Carolyn Seaton said.

Parents were notified of the security precaution via email about 1 p.m.

The lockdown was later lifted, according to the district.

"Based on information obtained from the Manhattan Beach PD, we have been advised to lift the lockdowns at (the schools)," Seaton wrote in an email to NBC4. "The police perimeters are currently set up well north of the schools. The school principals will release students to parents/guardians only as a precautionary measure."
