A convicted robber held up a Manhattan Beach smoke shop at gunpoint and then cut a clerk's throat before fleeing, police said on Sunday.
Tyler Rodgers, 18, was identified as the suspect in the robbery on Thursday at the Cigar and Smoke Shop, 1751 Artesia Blvd., police said.
Rodgers was on probation for robbery, police said.
Police said the drama began after 4 p.m. on Thursday when Rodgers walked into the store, pulled a shotgun out of a box and pointed the weapon at the clerk.
Rodgers ordered the clerk to the back of the store and put him in handcuffs before taking money from the register and slashing the clerk's throat with a knife, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
The store’s surveillance camera captured the incident, police said.
Police asked that anyone who knows where Rodgers is, to call Detective Michael Rosenberger at (310) 802-5127.
