Outage Cuts Power to 4,700 Customers in Marina del Rey

Thousands of Southern California Edison customers in Marina del Rey were in the dark Sunday night.

A utility company spokeswoman said at least 4,700 customers were without power as of 8:30 p.m. Electricity had been restored to all but 355 customers by 10 p.m., the utility announced on its Twitter feed.

The outage boundaries are Via Marina to the south, Admiralty Way to the north, Culver Boulevard and Via Dulce to the west.

An online outage map from SoCal Edison showed two power outages in the Marina del Rey area totaling 5,105 affected customers.

The cause of the outage, which began shortly before 7 p.m., has not yet been determined.

Firefighters were on scene in downtown Marina del Rey where the outage has caused elevator problems in some of the area’s high rises, according to a watch commander with LA County Fire Department.
