Police are hoping surveillance video will help them find a man who rappelled down the side of a Marina del Rey high-rise and broke into a 15th floor condo.
The woman who lives in the condo, in the Regatta Seaside complex at Maxella Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard, was startled Saturday morning by the sound of knocking at her window.
When she looked, authorities said, she saw a man dangling outside her window, yelling at her to let him in. Not recognizing the man, she refused and left the condo to call police.
The man then pried the window open with a crowbar and entered, authorities said. According to police, the man did not take any property before running off.
No description of the suspect has been released. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify him.
"It's almost like this should be something for a new television show," said Conrad Ricketts, a resident of the condo building.
Ricketts praised the woman whose condo was broken into.
