Memorial Services Scheduled for Adrianna Bachan

Memorial services will be held in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara this week for USC student Adrianna Bachan, who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver March 29.

The services are scheduled for:

  • 7 p.m. Tuesday: St. Anthony's Croatian Catholic Church, 712 Grand Ave., Los Angeles
  • 1 p.m. Wednesday: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 1300 E. Valley Road, Santa Barbara

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Adrianna Bachan Memorial Fund, c/o West End Partners, 1482 E. Valley Road, Ste. 245; Santa Barbara, Calif., 93108.

Bachan, 18, and Marcus Garfinkle, 19, were crossing Jefferson Boulevard at Hoover Street, when 30-year-old Claudia Cabrera, who was headed east on Jefferson, allegedly ran a red light and struck them, according to Los Angeles police.

Cabrera, who was driving on a suspended license with her 7-month-old baby in the car during the time of the collision, was arrested Thursday night at her home, police said. She was charged Monday with vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.

Police are still searching for Cabrera's husband, 31-year-old Josue Luna, and the green, four-door Infiniti I30 allegedly used in the collision. Luna, who has a 1995 conviction for carrying a concealed gun, was described as about 5 feet 9 inches and 245 pounds, with a shaved head.
