Too much to drink on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve? Instead of driving, take a free bus or train instead.
Metro will offer free rides on its bus and rail lines from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
Fare gates at rail stations will be unlocked during those hours, and there will be no need to tap a TAP card. Anyone who mistakenly does so will not be charged, according to Metro.
On Saturday, Christmas Eve, Metro will run a regular Saturday schedule, but will offer enhanced service on select lines to accommodate people attending the 1:25 p.m. Rams game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Similar enhanced service will be offered Jan. 1, when the Rams take on the Arizona Cardinals at the Coliseum, also at 1:25 p.m.
On Dec. 31, Metro will offer all-night service on all rail lines, along with the Orange and Silver bus lines. Rail lines and the Orange Line will run every 20 minutes between 1 to 5 a.m., while the Silver Line will run every 60 minutes from midnight to 4 a.m.
Metro will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday and Jan. 2, when the Christmas and New Year's holidays are officially observed.
On Jan. 2, Metro will provide enhanced service for people heading to Pasadena for the Rose Parade or Rose Bowl game. Gold Line rail service will begin that day at 3 a.m.
