Metro will provide limited service on the Blue and Expo lines during this morning's peak hours because of repairs to damage caused by a fire at the 7th Street/Metro Station.
Three-car trains will run every 10 to 12 minutes, according to Jose Ubaldo, a Metro spokesman. Regular service is every six minutes.
Metro is warning riders their morning commute will take longer. A shuttle bus on Flower Street will take riders to the Pico Station.
Metro crews planned to work all night to repair the damages caused by the fire but they don't expect to finish before the peak hours are over, Ubaldo said.
Firefighters were called to the station at 899 W. Seventh St., near Figueroa Street, at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and quickly put out the fire, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
"A small fire broke out on a signal box shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday and was quickly extinguished," Metro said in a statement. "The fire was on a piece of equipment adjacent to the 'tail' track where out-of-service Blue Line and Expo Line trains are turned around. There were no injuries to Metro customers."
Nine people, mainly Metro employees, were treated for smoke inhalation, with one taken to a hospital, Ubaldo said. People who had been in the station had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived, according to Humphrey, who said fire alarms sounded.
