Crews worked overnight to restore Metrolink service between Oxnard and downtown Los Angeles Wednesday, one day after a Metrolink train struck a truck on the tracks in Oxnard and derailed, injuring 28 people, four critically.
Metrolink spokesman Jeff Lustgarten said crews worked into the night to remove the damaged trains from the crossing. Track repairs were needed before before regular service could resume.
At least two freight trains passed the crash site Wednesday morning. Regular Metrolink service will resume later Wednesday.
A "bus bridge" was used to shuttle passengers between Oxnard and Moorpark during repairs. Metrolink said Tuesday night that it would operate the regularly scheduled service between Moorpark and Union Station with buses provided for passengers traveling from Camarillo, Oxnard and East Ventura.

Amtrak said it would resume limited service to San Luis Obispo, and that the Pacific Surfliner would also run on a limited schedule. The Coast- Starlight 11 and 14 trains to Seattle would run as normal, but with some delays, Amtrak said.
The derailment occurred after a Los Angeles-bound commuter train slammed into a truck that was abandoned on the tracks Tuesday morning. The driver of the vehicle was arrested after officers found him about a mile away from the crash site.
