Watch: Fan Fight in the Stands Spills Onto Field at Halftime of Soccer Game

The game at Santa Ana's Eddie West Field did not continue after about 50 fans faced off in the stands and on the field

What was supposed to be a friendly game between former members of two Mexican soccer teams turned into a brawl among fans Sunday in Santa Ana.

About 50 people began fighting in the stands at Santa Ana's Eddie West Field during a game between ex-members of Club America and Pumas. The fans spilled onto the field and exchanged punches during halftime in a scuffle that lasted about 30 minutes. 

Video showed some fans repeatedly kicking a man who was down on the field.

The game, a benefit for United Soccer Talents Foundation, did not continue,according to the OC Register. The two professional club teams, among Mexico's largest, are fierce rivals based in Mexico City.

Better known players at the game included former Mexican national team members Luis Roberto "Zague" Alves and Alberto Garcia Aspe, Paraguay's Salvador Cabanas, Chile's Fabian Estay and Colombia's Andres Chitiva.

Club America led 2-1 at the half.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of assault and assault with a deadly weapon, police said. Details regarding injuries were not immediately available.
