Military Members Will Enjoy Free July Rides at the Tram

Visiting the desert soon? Consider a complimentary trip up the mountain (just show with that military ID).

What to Know

  • Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
  • Free admission for members of the military, "active, former, and retired"
  • ALl July 2019

Let's be real: Everyone thinks that the desert in July is their own private little secret.

But it is a secret widely shared, thanks to those heat-sweet hotel deals, the beautiful warm nights that seem to shimmer throughout the seventh month, and plenty of pools to lounge alongside.

And the also not-so-secret secret part of this widely held Southern California secret? The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which whisks guests up to cool-down mountaintop, one that is over 8,500 feet up.

Meaning, yes, there is another place to chill out, beyond the shallow end of the nearest swimming pool.

Here's something even sweeter, though, about the world-famous tram in July: It is offering members of the military free admission, all month long, during its annual Military Days program.

That complimentary entry includes "all U.S. military personnel with valid military identification — active, former, and retired," and weekends are part of the deal, too.

Also nice?

Up to four of the military member's guests will enjoy 25% off their tram ticket.

This means you can gather a group together for a hike in the "50+ miles of pristine wilderness at Mount San Jacinto Park" or lunch or dinner at Peaks Restaurant or Pines Café, at Mountain Station, which grandly sits at 8,512 feet.

Above all? Being above it all is cool, in more ways than one, in July.

Also cool? Thanking those who serve, and have served, by waiving admission to a great attraction for an entire month.

It's a yearly tradition at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and it is making its anticipated annual return beginning on Monday, July 1.

Plan your desert jaunt now, but don't tell anyone your secret, about the P.S. being the place to be when summer revs up, because they already probably know.
