USPS Honors Military Working Dogs with 2019 Forever Stamps

They’re our companions, man’s best friend, and hard working professionals.

And now the US Postal Service has dedicated a series of 2019 forever stamps honoring the Military Working Dogs and K-9s known as the "nation's brave and loyal military working dogs."

A ceremony was held at the Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme K-9 kennel facility on Friday where these hard working canines showcased their skills in a demonstration.

Speakers at the ceremony included Capt. Jeff Chism, NBVC Commanding Officer, Master-at-Arms 1st Class (MA1) Duane Jones, NBVC K-9 Kennel Master, who was the Master of Ceremonies,Army and Marine Corps Veteran, Orvene Carpenter, Retired Postmaster, Oxnard & Port Hueneme, and Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran and K-9 Handler, MA1 John Hemp.

The Military Working Dogs present at the ceremony represented different branches of service including the U.S. Coast Guard, Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
