Boy's Custom $3,500 Wheelchair Stolen From Car Trunk

Pomona police sought help Thursday to find the person who stole a $3,500 custom-made wheelchair that was being used by a 7-year-old boy.

The crime occurred in the 200 block of East Magnolia Street some time between 10 p.m. May 12 and 10 a.m. the following day, the Pomona Police Department reported.

The boy's father, 38-year-old Joseph DeLeon, had parked his vehicle near the family residence overnight, police said.

"In the trunk was his 7-year-old son's special needs stroller," police said. "When he returned to his vehicle, he found his vehicle had been burglarized and his son's $3,500 special needs stroller had been taken."

Police circulated photos of the custom-crafted Convaid Cruiser, serial number CX14-05103. Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call Detective Travis Johnson at 909-620-2085.
