Mission Viejo Teacher Arrested for Allegedly ‘Sexting' Student

A 25-year-old high school teacher was arrested Monday for allegedly "sexting" with a student in Mission Viejo, officials said.

Justin Verducci, a math teacher at Capistrano Valley High School, was taken into custody in front of his home in Irvine following an investigation into allegations he was having inappropriate text communication with a 16-year-old student, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

On Friday, the student's parents contacted Sheriff's investigators after they discovered several inappropriate text messages on their daughter's phone.

Investigators said the text messages were "sexual in nature and exchanged between their daughter and Verducci."

Verducci was arrested on suspicion of child annoyance and sexual communication with a known minor online.

He is being held on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Anyone with information regarding additional victims is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department's Special Victim's Unit at (714) 647-7418 or (714) 647-7000.
