Southern Californians Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings advanced to the Olympic beach volleyball semifinals with a 21-13, 21-13 victory Sunday over Italy’s Marta Menegatti and Greta Cicolari.

The American duo, who never trailed during the match, is seeking a third consecutive Olympic gold medal.

They will take on Beijing bronze medalists Xue Chen and Zhang Xi in the semifinals Tuesday.

Chen and Xi defeated Austrian sisters Stefanie Schwaiger and Doris Schwaiger 21-18, 21-11 to move on.
