More Gold Traffic Cameras
Officials say cams help prevent motorists from crossing the tracks against signals

Traffic enforcement cameras are being installed at 14 intersections along the route of the Metro Gold Line extension to East Los Angeles, Metro officials announced Friday.
The Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension runs six miles from Union station through Little Tokyo and Boyle Heights to Atlantic and Pomona boulevards in East Los Angeles. An opening date for the line has not been set, but it is expected to begin operating later this year.
To help prevent motorists from crossing the tracks against signals, traffic enforcement cameras are being installed along First Street at Mission, Anderson, Utah, Clarence and Lorena streets; and on Third Street at Gage, Downey, Eastern, Ford, McDonnell, Arizona, Mednik, Civic Center Drive and Laverne.
Once the cameras are installed, there will be a 30-day warning period before citations are issued.
Violations carry fines of $445 for adults and $435 for legal drivers under age 18.
The first cameras -- at Mission, Anderson and Utah streets -- are expected to be in place by the end of August.
