Mother Arrested at Gunpoint After Leading Deputies on Pursuit While Child Was in Car

A mother was apprehended at gunpoint after leading deputies on a pursuit while her baby daughter was in her car in Signal Hill Tuesday night.

The chase began after authorities responded to reports of a domestic dispute at a home on 121st Street around 8 p.m., and ended in Signal Hill at 32nd Street and Orange Avenue about 10 minutes later, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.

During the pursuit she drove her Ford Expedition on the 110 and 405 freeways, and is said to have struck another vehicle. She is also said to have driven at deputies as she fled the home.

The child was examined by paramedics at the scene and is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

The woman was being held on numerous charges.
