California Highway Patrol officers were seeking the driver of a big-rig who apparently struck and killed a motorcyclist on the 60 Freeway in El Monte and did not stop, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 6:35 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Peck Road. Lanes remained closed, causing heavy traffic. Lanes were reopened about 10 p.m.

It was not clear whether the driver of the big-rig knew he or she was involved in a collision.

Additional details were not immediately available.
