Motorist Killed in Crash Identified as 95-Year-Old Missing Santa Ana Man

A 95-year-old man who went missing in Santa Ana on Friday was identified as a motorist who died in a traffic accident early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Jack Edwin Winchester was driving his 2008 Volkswagen Jetta on State Route 73 near the Newport Beach and Irvine border when his vehicle went over the right shoulder embankment on the near Bonita Canyon Drive at about 4:14 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff's Department confirmed.

Winchester was last seen by his wife at their home at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. When his wife returned home about two hours later, Winchester had left in his car and was believed to have been headed to Irvine.
