A brush fire sent a large plume of smoke over Murrieta on Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out near Interstate 15 at Clinton Keith, according to CalFire.
By 1:30 p.m., the fire had burned 20 acres. The blaze was burning on a ridge above a housing development. Five homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
According to CalFire, air tankers assisted in the fight, and the blaze was contained by 1:40 p.m.
