Neighbors Subdue Alleged Attempted Rapist Near Runyon Canyon Park in Hollywood

A woman walking toward a popular hiking trail was attacked from behind

A woman was attacked by an alleged attempted rapist as she walked toward a popular hiking trail in the Hollywood Hills about 8:30 Saturday morning.

The man was arrested after he was subdued by a number of men who responded to the screams of the victim, who had been walking her dog in the 1700 block of Fuller Avenue (map).

The suspect, Dejan Sabastian, 21, was in custody Saturday, police with the Hollywood station of the Los Angeles Police Department said. Sabastian allegedly approached the woman from behind and attempted to pull down her pants.

He was held by neighbors until the police arrived. He is held on assault with intent to rape.

The victim had been walking toward Runyon Canyon Park. She was not injured, police said.
