GLENDALE, Calif. -- Glendale-based Nestle USA announced Friday it is voluntarily recalling two production codes of Nestle Nesquik Strawberry Powder that may contain small fragments of aluminum.

The recall involves two specific production codes of 21.8-ounce containers of Nestle Nesquik Strawberry Powder, which were produced on Aug. 12 and 13 and distributed in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Printed on the bottom of each of the plastic containers is a production code of 82255880 or 82265880, with a best-by date of August 2010.

The company statement did not indicate whether any illnesses have been linked to the powder, or how it may have been contaminated.

The product can be returned to the store where it was purchased for a refund.

Questions should be directed to the Nestle Consumer Services Center at 888-637-4345.

  • Jennifer Sunday, Nov 9 at 10:30 AM FLAG COMMENT Aluminum is non-toxic when ingested in small amounts. The main concern is simply that it shouldn't be in there - for example, if it were sand instead of aluminum, they would still recall the product, even though eating sand isn't hazardous either.
  • tara Saturday, Nov 8 at 7:13 AM FLAG COMMENT What are the affects this may have on my children? They consumed close to the whole container!
