New Luxury Lounge Opens at Los Angeles Union Station

The new lounge will offer internet access, priority boarding and comfortable seating

A new luxury lounge offering comfortable seating, priority seating and internet opened for preferred Amtrak customers on Thursday at Los Angeles Union Station.

The Metropolitan Lounge, located on the second floor above the Amtrak ticket office, is open to sleeping car passengers, Pacific Surfliner business class passengers with same-day tickets and Amtrak Guest Rewards members.

"We are excited that our premiere passengers are able to relax in a deluxe lounge while waiting to board their trains here at Union Station," said Amtrak's Vice President of Operations D.J. Stadtler in a statement.

Amtrak said the lounge will be highlighted by train-themed artwork and a sculpture depicting the Chinese American’s contribution to the railroad. Accessible by elevators, the space will be open daily between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.

The new lounge replaces the previous pre-boarding area that was near the TRAXX restaurant. The new space includes amenities such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, a conference room, officials said.
