A seven-year-old boy with a brain tumor has been given less than a month to live. With the help of the Chino Police Department, his dreams of becoming a police officer became reality.
It was a hero’s welcome for Chino police department’s newest recruit, Jose Verduzco.
But on Thursday, the Chino Police Department made Jose an honorary police officer.
During the ceremony, Jose raised his right hand with assistance and took the oath, as his mom wiped tears from her eyes.
A Sergeant, who won the Medal of Valor Ribbon, which is law enforcement's highest honor, gave his medal to Jose.
"I have an understanding of what he's being faced with right now," said Sgt. Rodney Lombard. "It's much more grave than what I faced when I won that award."
The Chino Police Officers Association is helping the family out with their medical expenses. You can donate on the organization's website and follow the link to the donations page.
