Although he has been sentenced to four years in prison, Doctor Conrad Murray will be housed at the Men’s Central Jail for the foreseeable future.

He will likely spend less than two years of his four year sentence behind bars.

This is because of a state law designed to reduce prison overcrowding.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said his department intends to make Murray serve his full term which will translate to his release some time in 2013.

Some believe that jail overcrowding would lead to Murray being allowed to serve his sentence under house arrest, but Whitmore said this is not possible.

"He does not meet the requirements so no. He would not be allowed home detention under our jurisdiction,” Whitmore said.
