North Hollywood Liquor Store Worker Shot and Killed in Robbery

An employee at a liquor store in North Hollywood was shot and killed during a robbery at the business, a police sergeant said Sunday.

Officers were dispatched at 11:50 p.m. Saturday to the liquor store in the area of Sherman Way and Bellaire Avenue in response to robbery and assault with a deadly weapon calls, according to Sgt. Tom Holder of the LAPD's North Hollywood station.

Officers arriving at the scene said the man had been shot dead, Holder said.

"It appears that it was a robbery -- and something that had occurred during the robbery that caused the victim to be shot," he said.

There was no information available on the shooter's description.
