Man Shot, Killed on North Hollywood Street

Police spoke with the man in a nearby park before the shooting near an elementary school

No arrests have been reported after a man was shot and killed early Monday on a North Hollywood street.

The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. near Tujunga Avenue and Kittridge Street. Officers responding to a 911 call from a driver regarding the shooting found the man's body on Kittridge Street.

Details regarding the gunman's description and what led to the shooting were not immediately available.

Police encountered the victim, identified only as a man in his 50s, earlier in a nearby park. The man was shouting and possibly attempting to cut down trees, according to police.

A witness reported seeing a man running from the scene of the shooting, police said.

Police determined the gunman was not in a nearby elementary school after searching the building. Streets closed for the investigation and search reopened early Monday.
