Parents, teachers and students are looking for you support as they try to win $500,000 for Darby Elementary School in Northridge.

Kohl's is donating $500,000 to 20 schools each for a total of $10 million. Darby Elementary is the only LAUSD School in the top 100 in the competition.

Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa was at the school Friday during an energized rally, to praise Darby for being a top-notch school.

"When you look at successful schools, and this is a very successful school," said Mayor Villaraigosa. "You wouldn't be at 70, going down to number one in the Kohl's Care contest if it wasn't for parents and teachers."

To vote for Darby Elementary log on to this Facebook page and select "Darby Elementary - Northridge, CA."

The $10 million donation comes from the Kohl's Cares merchandise program, which sells special merchandise, including plush toys and books, and donates 100 percent of the net profit to benefit children's health and education initiatives nationwide.
