A 53-year-old Norwalk man has been arrested on suspicion of drugging and sexually assaulting a 22-year-old babysitter he hired from an online service, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

On Jan. 11, Kevin Cady returned home from work early and offered the babysitter a drink he had prepared, Sgt. Gary Harman said in a statement issued Thursday.

"The victim consumed the drink and immediately began to feel sleepy. She awoke sometime later to find the suspect sexually assaulting her," Harman said.

The victim fled the home, located in the 14100 block of Bayside Drive, and contacted deputies.

Cady was detained and later released pending investigation.

On Feb. 15, the victim's toxicology report tested positive for a surgical sedative that causes drowsiness and memory loss, according to the sheriff's department.

On Feb. 29, the suspect was arrested.

Anyone with information about the case can contact deputies at 562-863-8711.

"She may not be the only victim," said Sgt. Al Cano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. "Our concern is that there may be other victims out there, we'd like to be able to get in contact with."
