An officer was involved in a crash after pursuing a suspected drunken driver Wednesday night in South Los Angeles, prompting the partial closure of a stretch of the northbound 110 Freeway.
The crash was reported at 10:39 p.m. near Vernon Avenue, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Division. As of 12:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
The officer was treated for minor injuries.
The suspect fled the vehicle on foot following the crash before the car burst into flames, according to reports from the scene.
The California Highway Patrol shut down all lanes and diverted traffic to the express lanes as police searched for the driver.
