Family of Man Killed By L.A. Sheriff's Deputy Call for An FBI Investigation

The family of a man killed during a Compton traffic stop claims L.A. Sheriff's deputies may be pressuring witnesses to change their story. It's a charge the L.A. Sheriff's Department vehemently denies. Whit Johnson reports for the NBC4 News at 5 p.m. on November 19,2012.

Police shot and wounded a burglar at a 99 Cents Store who police say attacked them with a wooden object, officials said on Sunday.

Two officers suffered minor injuries in the attack that happened at 10:30 p.m. Saturday outside a 99 Cents Only store on Victory Boulevard and Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, police said.

They were not hospitalized.

The burglar was at a hospital in stable condition.

His identity was not immediately released.

The officers were called out to the store on a burglary call.

Once there, the officers spotted a man believed to be a burglar trying to run away.

They shot him during a foot chase when they say he picked up a “wooden object” and attacked them, said LAPD spokesman Cleon Joseph.
